Integrity is a holistic concept, which judges the quality
of having sense of honesty and truthfulness in regard
to the motivations for one's actions.
which is a consistency of actions, values, methods,
    measures, principles, expectations and outcome.
It is your choice of values and resolution to live by
those values that form your character and personality.
And it is integrity that enhances all your other values.
The quality of person you are is determined by how well
you live up to the values that are most important to you.
Integrity is the quality that locks in your values and causes
you to live consistent with them.

One afternoon, Annie invited her friends over to her house to play games. She had invited Kelly, Charlie, Peter and Lily over. Then Peter suggested that they play ball. The rest agreed. They had a lot of fun. Suddenly, when Annie wanted to throw the ball to Charlie, she accidentally aimed the ball the wrong direction and it hit her mother's favourite vase that she got from her best friend. "Oh no! My mum's vase is broken! How am I going to explain to my mother later on? She will be coning back in 10 minutes' time, and we will be never be able to replace this vase. It is a limited edition vase from Spain!"
Annie was terrified as she knew it was her fault and she was afraid to face the music. They were deciding what to do when suddenly Annie's mother came back. "What's wrong children? All of you seem troubled." "Erm... Mum... Your vase... Is... Is..."Annie said, stammering. "MY VASE ?!! You broke it ?!! How could you, Annie?" "No mum, it's not me. It's Lily!" Annie's mother stared at Lily for a minute, feeling very angry. Then, she stormed into her room, banging the door behind her. Lily looked at Annie in tears, thinking why her friend could blame her when she was innocent. She walked out of the house, followed by the rest.
Annie felt terrible inside. She knew she had done something wrong and blaming others. She slowly stepped into her mother's room and plucked up her courage to tell her mother the truth. She was expecting a scolding from her mother, but instead her mother praised her for being truthful.
The next day in school, Lily gave Annie a new vase and said it was for her mother. Annie was touched and apologised to Lily. Annie explained the whole situation that happened yesterday and said that she had told her mother the truth already. From then on, they were very close friends.

Moral of story : Honesty is the Best Policy

    Caught Stealing (compo)

Matt was a shy and quiet boy. One day, his three bullies from his school told him to steal some wallets from a shop. He was afraid of them and agreed to do what they said.
Matt went to the shop and pretended to look at the wallets. When the shopkeeper was not looking, he secretly slipped the wallets into his school bag. A policeman saw Matt stealing. He went up to Matt and took him to the police station. Matt was frightened.
The policeman informed Matt's parents what Matt had done. They scolded and punished him for stealing. From that day onwards, Matt learnt a lesson and never dared steal again.

Everyone knew I was a chocoholic. Everyday, I would pass by this shop to buy my favourite chocolate bar, Snickers. But one day, when I was about to buy my chocolate, I saw this brand new MP4 player. It was a cool shiny gadget. Small and portable. I remembered almost everyone in my class had it. I walked forward to check the price. To my astonishment, it was $200! After buying my chocolate, I hurriedly rush home.

Upon my arrival, I entered my house and my dog (which I call Snickers cause he looked like one) rushed up to me and licked me on the face. Its saliva was cold but disgusting. I saw my mum cooking and I immediately begged on my knees for her to purchase the MP4 player. Her response was a quick ‘no’. I wanted to beg again but I know my mother well.

The following day, after school, I talked this over with my friend, Madeline. She then encouraged me to shoplift but I know I could not. My conscience told me not to. I cannot beg my mum again, in addition, with my marks of 4 over 50 for my Mathematics test. But because of temptation and desperation, I had to. My eyes could not stand one look away from the MP4 player. I felt like a kleptomaniac. Soon, I was in the shop for my ‘clever’ plan with Madeline on watch outside the shop.

As sly as a fox, I went near one of the boxes containing the MP4 player inside. With two hands holding it, it was like I found a treasure box! I dumped it inside my school bag and rushed out of the shop.

I celebrated with Madeline but as we were about to leave the shop, the owner pulled me back and not Madeline. She turned back and run away. I felt hopeless.

The shop owner brought me to the nearest police station. The policeman questioned e for my details and called my parents up while my parents have not arrived I asked,

“Uncle, how did you know when you did not even have those camera or those sensor?”

“My assistant saw you without knowing it. I wouldn’t be fooled with my trustworthy assistant.”, he replied.

Soon my parents arrived, with a confused look, they asked the policeman and shop owner of the incident. They explained everything. I felt embarrassed. The kind policeman gave me a chance but I had to do CIP. My parents thanked the policeman and the shop owner and I soon returned the stolen MP4 player. I walked home, with my head hung in shame.

*NOTE!!!- This is a fictional story... just to elaborate an example on Integrity, just for your information.:D

This is an explanation of integrity :
Integrity is honesty. You must have integrity then only people will trust you.

    Examples:
    - Copying in a test
    - Cheating in marks
    - Lying to people

When you copy in a test, you are copying other people's answers. It is a bad habit.
When the teacher gives you extra marks in a test, tell the teacher.
Don't lie to people. it might decrease the trust between you and others. This will affect your relationships.

Remember, honesty is the best policy(:

    My reflection on Integrity

The definition of Integrity in dictionary.com is
adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty.

As people, we need to follow God's commandments. Some of them relates to Integrity. And as members of the Girls' Brigade, a Christian youth organisation, we have to have this vital value in our life.

Without integrity, conflicts can occur and worsen. There are many other effects that will happen without integrity in this world.

    An example is
    Cheating in a test/exam

This is a common incident between students. Sometimes, after achieving satisfying marks, good things will happen but soon the consequences will appear. So what is the point of cheating? Things just get worse...

My point is Honesty is the best policy. It is a common proverb but has a strong meaning deep within...:D
